The 53-year-old gaffer replaces Alain Roger Nseme who helped the club secure promotion to the country’s Elite One championship after spending four years in the second tier league.
“Aigle Royal de la Menoua is pleased to welcome Coach David Pagou. Thank you Coach for having favoured the <El Pacha project> among so many others”-a club statement said.
Pagou joins Aigle more than two weeks after he parted ways with his former club PWD Bamenda. He spent three seasons with the Abakwa boys where he guided them to their maiden Elite One title in 2020 and first-ever Cup of Cameroon trophy earlier this year.
The 2022/2023 CAF Confederation Cup bound also finished third of their pool in his last season in charge of the club and suffered a painful first round exit in the Cup of Cameroon after losing to third-tier club AS Real.
Aigle Royal hopes the appointment of David Pagou will mark a new beginning for the club. The 2008 Cup of Cameroon runners-up were relegated in 2018 but fought their way back to the top and will be looking forward to retaining their top tier status despite facing stiff adversary.
Following the new format released by the Cameroon Football Federation, El Pacha as they are also referred to, have been drawn in pool A with 10 other clubs amongst them two times defending champions Coton Sport, last season’s vice champions Eding Sport, PWD Bamenda, Canon Sportive of Yaoundé and Colombe of the Nja and Lobo whom they face in their opening game.
The 2022/2023 Cameroon Elite One Championship starts on October 15, 2022.
