Uruguay, Argentina, Chile and Paraguay formalized their joint candidacy for the organization of the 2030 World Cup last Tuesday.
This is a joint nomination proposed by Argentina, Uruguay, Chile and Paraguay. This edition will be an opportunity to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the competition, organized for the first time in 1930 in Uruguay, whose national team came out victorious. "We are in this emblematic place where history began," said CONMEBOL President Alejandro Dominguez at a press conference organized to express this will.
"There will be other World Cups but the 100th anniversary will only be celebrated once," he also insisted, while stressing that sentimental significance should not take precedence over the feasibility of such a project.
